Ways to Serve Here in Asheboro
- Cents-ability — Second Sunday of the Month
What a wonderful start we have had for 2023 as we reach out, serving others in our community and in Salem Presbytery. Last Sunday our gifts totaled over $640.00 and will be forwarded to the appropriate agencies. Cents-ability is not an once-in-a-while thought, but an ongoing program that we support twelve months of the year. On the second Sunday of each month we will ask for your coins or whatever you are comfortable giving to forward our mission in the battle against hunger. If it is more convenient to drop your spare change in our kettle on Sunday mornings, we will be grateful for the smallest amount. Save your coins — we need them! Last year our contributions amounted to $1186.00 and your Service and Outreach team thanks all of you for your continued support. - After-School Outreach
- Vacation Bible School
- Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen is a local soup kitchen feeding anyone in the community in need of a meal.
- Meals on Wheels is a community mobile meal delivery service for low income, elderly and homebound individuals that we, as a church, support.
- Salvation Army Bell Ringers
- Hope House is a ministry of First Presbyterian Church’s Women’s Circles
- Foster Family Christmas Dinner
- Angel Tree is an outreach program through our prison ministry to buy Christmas gifts for children whose parents are incarcerated.
- Boy Scouts
- Prayer Shawl Ministry
- Boomers and Beyond (a ministry to the retired community and others where a lunch is served and program of interest follows)
- World Vision Ministry (hats, scarves and sweaters are knitted and crocheted and distributed to needy children worldwide)
- Fair Trade Coffee/Chocolate Products are for sale to support ethical practices and proceeds are distributed to the farmers who produce the products.
- 2 Cents-a-Meal is a program of collecting loose change that is used for hunger relief around the world.
- Prison Ministry
- Pregnancy Care Center is a community program that our church provides financial assistance. Items are collected for both mother and baby.
- Family Crisis Center is an organization for victims of domestic violence that our church helps financially.
- Operation Christmas Child is a ministry associated with Samaritan’s Purse.
- Boys and Girls Club
- Communities in Schools is helped by our congregation through many volunteers and with their Backpack Kids Program. This program fills backpacks with food and other essential items that lower income children in the community are given as a means of feeding them while not in school.
