Our Christian Education program provides opportunities to develop and nurture a closer personal relationship with Christ through a variety of means, including Bible study, discussion, sharing, fellowship and prayer. We offer Sunday School classes and other educational opportunities in order to provide care, nurture, and support for people of all ages.
SUNDAY SCHOOL SCHEDULE – We offer Sunday School classes for all ages during the school year, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:20 a.m.
Adult Sunday School Classes:
The Truth Seekers Class
The Truth Seekers class meets in the Parlor and is currently studying the gospel of John. The class format includes prayer time, reading scripture, discussion of what the writer is telling us, and how we can apply it to our lives today. There is no pressure to read aloud or participate in the discussion in the class. We welcome anyone who wants to learn more about the Bible to join us.
The Westminster Class
The Westminster Class gathers for Sunday Bible study in Westminster Hall. Based on Uniformed Series quarterly studies presented in The Present Word, the study objectives are:
1. To know the content of the Bible
2. To understand the message of the Bible in light of students’ experiences and relationships
3. To know God’s redeeming love as revealed through Jesus Christ that they may respond in faith and love.
The emphasis is on the Bible as the primary source of understanding, and to enrich that understanding additional sources include history of the Presbyterian Church and its creeds, hymns, and early church history. Discussion is encouraged, no question is too small, bonds of fellowship are strengthened weekly, and everyone is
welcomed.
The Disciples Class
Are you a seeker of God's truth from the Bible? The Disciples class does just that....we seek truth from the scriptures. We seek to be modern day disciples who apply Christ's teachings to our lives. We also look into the historical and cultural aspects of the time periods that we study. More than just a class, we are believers who support one another through prayer and service to our community. Using virtual teaching, our lessons can be accessed by disciples in other states.
Our current study is of the Book of Acts. We use various devices including maps, diagrams, and occasional videos to bring the lessons to life.
So if you are a seeker of God's truth or looking for a group that shares your curiosity, you are invited to join us. We are located in Room 210.
The Dean Bailey Class
We are a discussion class with a few members who rotate as teachers/discussion leaders. The class votes on a book of the Bible to study and takes a chapter each Sunday until completed. The books of James, Mark, and Acts have been completed. Currently we are studying Romans. The class is named after Dean Bailey, a former Associate Pastor, who taught the class. Our class meets in room 219.
Nursery care is provided on Sunday mornings for children younger than two years old. The crib nursery is located in Room 114. The toddler nursery is on the preschool hall in Room 110.
